What to expect

If you’ve never been to a Chiropractor, you may be wondering what to expect during your first visit. Chiropractic care is focused on the detection, localization and specific adjustment of vertebral subluxation complex in the spinal column. Subluxation is a term used to describe what occurs when vertebra are improperly aligned causing pressure or interference within your nervous system. Since the nervous system controls and coordinates every system of your body, a misalignment in the spine can cause irreparable damage if it remains undetected or uncorrected.

In many cases, you may not realize your spine is misaligned because you have not experienced any pain yet but left undetected, misalignments can lead to a gradual deterioration of your health and well-being. This is where your Doctor of Chiropractic can help. By correcting the subluxation and removing interferences in your nervous system, your body can function more efficiently on all levels. And while pain often motivates people to seek the help of a Chiropractic Doctor, you do not have to be in pain or discomfort to benefit from Chiropractic adjustments. In fact, clinical research reveals that regular chiropractic care promotes your body’s ability to self-heal and has been shown to decrease incidences of certain ailments and injuries, while helping you reach and maintain your optimal health.

Upon visiting our office for the first time, you will be provided a few forms which will help identify your health concerns, including any past or current medical conditions. The forms and your information are kept private and confidential. Rest assured we adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect the privacy of your medical information. The doctor will review your medical history and may need to ask you a few further questions. Then an exam will be performed to help determine the cause of any pain you may be experiencing and the presence of subluxations. If medically necessary, x-rays will be taken. Those x-rays will be thoroughly analyzed by the doctor.

At the second visit, the doctor will review with you the findings from the exam and x-rays. You will also receive your first adjustment and post x-rays to determine structural changes. The adjustment is very gentle and safe for all ages.
